For many local searches, people decide which business to call before they ever reach a website. They look at the map results, the reviews, the photos and the opening hours, and they choose.

That makes your Google Business Profile one of the most important pages you have, even though you don't host it yourself.

Get the basics exactly right

Your business name, address, phone number and hours should match your website and other listings precisely. Choose the most accurate primary category, then add secondary categories for the other services you genuinely offer.

  • Accurate primary and secondary categories
  • Service areas that reflect where you actually work
  • Up-to-date hours, including holidays
  • A link to the most relevant page, not always the homepage

Show real photos

Photos of your team, premises, vehicles and finished work help people trust you. Add new ones regularly; stock photography adds little.

Earn and answer reviews

Ask every happy customer for a review, at the moment they're happiest. Make it easy with a direct link. Reply to every review, positive or negative, politely and specifically.

Never buy reviews or offer incentives for positive ones. It breaks Google's policies and erodes trust if discovered.

Use posts, products and services

Listing your services with short descriptions and posting updates or offers gives searchers more reasons to choose you and keeps the profile looking active.

Connect it to your website

Your profile and website should reinforce each other: location or service-area pages, consistent details, and embedded reviews or maps where they help visitors.

Key takeaways

  • →Keep name, address, phone and hours consistent everywhere
  • →Choose categories carefully
  • →Ask for and reply to reviews consistently
  • →Add genuine photos and service details

How long until changes affect rankings?+

Some changes show within days, but reviews and activity build visibility over months.

Should we respond to fake reviews?+

Report them through Google, and leave a calm, factual reply in the meantime.
